At a glance, it's your typical slice-of-life story usually found in anime, but sometimes it goes beyond that thanks to the involvement of J.C. Staff's brilliant action sequences. Even straight down to Mikoto's electrifying effects make it a shocking experience.
The downside to the anime is within the 4th episode's character animation. There are points where Mikoto just looks a bit off. Maybe it was directed by someone else at the time, but even then, Mikoto just looks off.
Compare that to the rest of the anime though and it actually connects to a story for the first season. The story is what drives Mikoto and her friends to top speed once trouble sparks just around the corner. A teacher that wants to see her students back, a certain boy who can't remember Mikoto's name, and a crazy-driven lady makes the lives of Misaka, Kuroko (despite her "attempts of helping her onee-sama/sissy"), Uiharu, and Saten more exciting and adventuring.
With the 3rd season/series coming soon, I bet everyone is going to love what the Biri Biri/Bug Zapper/Railgun has in store in the future. Even after the roller coaster ride that is "A Certain Magical Index III" is done, we can always hope for the best.
